The Peterson’s knew they wanted to have a usable deck, but were also interested in a screen porch. We came up with a design that allowed them to have both by creating an upper deck with Azek decking and Westbury aluminum railings. Below that is a screen porch, kept dry by Trex RainEscapes under decking. Since the lower portion would be protected from the elements, we used cedar decking for a more natural look. ScreenEze screen system was installed to enclose the space, while maintaining the outdoor feel. The fascia and post wraps were done with LP Smartside trim that matched the upper siding on the house to tie it all together. Diagonal decking was done on both decks to create some visual interest and style. The Peterson’s will be able to enjoy their deck for many years, whether it is in the sun or in the covered portion below.
