The Skadsbergs’ approached us shortly after we started construction on their neighbors screen porch and deck. They had some ideas of what they wanted, but weren’t sure how to make it work. They didn’t want a large deck outside of the porch since they had plans of a patio below in the future. We built a wide 6′ set of stairs to help tie the future space with the new one that we were creating. This left enough room on the deck for a grilling station and gave a little separation from the basement window and the stairs.
Inside of the porch is an open face gas fireplace to give a more rustic feel with the convenience of an on/off switch. On the opposite side of the fireplace is a sliding barn door with screen panels. The homeowner had a picture of one they had seen online and asked us to duplicate it. It turned out great and functions really well without taking up extra space inside the porch
